About Norra
More than a résumé. More than a story.
I’m Norra Ismail – a corporate trainer, facilitator, speaker, and storyteller.
For more than two decades,my work and life have taken me through very different worlds: corporate and media advertising, entrepreneurship, business development, training and facilitation, and the deeply personal experiences that come with being human.
Along the way, I’ve learned that growth is rarely a straight line. It is shaped by what we experience, what we choose to learn from it, and what we decide to do next.
That belief sits at the heart of my work today.
From selling solutions to developing people
I spent 18 years in corporate media and advertising, working across newspapers, cinema, radio and television.
It was a world that taught me much more than how to sell. I learned to understand businesses, identify opportunities, ask better questions and—most importantly—recognise that the best solutions begin with understanding what people and organisations actually need.
In 2015, I left corporate employment and began a different chapter as an entrepreneur and consultant.
I founded Nxt Success Solutions Consultancy and Training in 2019, building on my experience in business development, strategy, communication and professional development.
Training became an increasingly important part of that journey. Since 2016, I have been involved with KRU Academy as an industry expert, speaker and trainer, and I became a certified trainer in 2018.
Today, I bring together those experiences in work that helps people communicate more clearly, lead more intentionally and pursue everyday excellence.
What I believe
I believe meaningful growth begins with awareness.
Before we can change what we do, we need to notice how we think, what we value, what influences our choices and what we may have been taking for granted.
That is why I’m less interested in quick fixes and more interested in understanding what lies beneath the surface.
For me, meaningful growth is about bringing together clarity, depth, purpose and action.
Think clearly.
Understand deeply.
Choose mindfully.
Act meaningfully.
Grow intentionally.
How I work
My approach brings together three things:
Head. Heart. Hands.
Head – clear thinking, structured frameworks and practical understanding.
Heart – human insight, self-awareness, reflection and the ability to see beyond the surface.
Hands – turning insight into action, because learning only becomes useful when it changes what we do.
This is why my work is rarely about simply teaching a skill.
I want people to understand why something matters, see how it applies to their reality, and leave with something they can actually use.
Whether I am facilitating a room, speaking to an audience or designing a training programme, I aim to create learning that is practical, thoughtful and meaningful.
The person behind the work
There is, of course, more to me than my professional résumé.
Life has taken me through chapters I never would have chosen and experiences I could never have planned for. Some have been difficult. Some have changed me. Some have simply taught me to look at life differently.
I am a single parent, a cancer survivor, and a mother who lost her daughter to cancer.
Those are not simply labels in a biography. They are experiences that have profoundly shaped the way I understand resilience, responsibility, loss, relationships, purpose and what it means to keep moving forward.
I have learned that resilience is not always about being strong.
Sometimes it is about adapting.
Sometimes it is about asking for help.
Sometimes it is about making another choice when the previous one no longer serves you.
And sometimes, it is about continuing when the path ahead looks nothing like the one you imagined.
These experiences have shaped my perspective, but they do not define the entirety of who I am.
They are part of the lens through which I see people, work, growth and purpose.
It is also why storytelling matters to me.
NORRATOR – a blend of NORRA and narrator – is where I explore the stories shaped by experience.
Because a story can do more than tell us what happened. It can make us pause, question what we assumed, recognise something familiar, or see an old experience from an entirely different angle.
What I’m here to do
At different points in my life, I have been a salesperson, strategist, entrepreneur, trainer, facilitator, speaker, learner, parent and simply a person figuring things out as I go.
Each chapter has added something to the way I see the world.
I bring those perspectives into both my professional work and my personal writing – not to tell people how to live, but to invite better questions, clearer thinking and more intentional choices.
I want my work to help people communicate with greater clarity, lead with intention and keep growing – not necessarily by becoming someone else, but by becoming more deliberate about who they are and how they choose to live and work.
I believe we do not always get to choose what shapes us.
But we can choose what we make of it.
That is where experience becomes insight.
Where insight can become action.
And where growth becomes something we actively shape rather than simply wait for.
